Night at the Red Cat
piano duet
SEA-067-00 - $7.00/copy3 minutes - M
Based on an energetic melodic & rhythmic pattern called a "montuno," this duet offers an introduction to the world of up-tempo Latin piano music. Each piano part has a distinct role: the primo part introduces the montuno pattern, the main theme, and (if desired) an improvised solo, while the secondo part has the role of "rhythm section." (For truly adventurous students, there's an opportunity to switch roles halfway through the piece!)
This piece takes its name from a courageously-conceived but ill-fated alternative theatre in Portland, Oregon, The Redcat, whose spirit lives on in this high octane romp!

Scorch was designed by the folks who built Sibelius notation software, as a simple way to allow Sibelius scores to become webpages. Despite its slightly ominous name, Scorch is free, is not excessively large (approx. 1 MB), and does not do anything demonic like put you on a mailing list or affect other computer programs. - E.A.
